B Family - Lubbock Texas Family Photographer

Another super-duper session from my trip to Texas this past fall!  Whitney and I have known each other since middle school (thank you Facebook for helping us find each other again)!  We also went to church camp together every summer for many years - so many good memories from those summers!  I was giddy when Whitney asked me to do her family portraits during my Texas stay, especially since I'd never met her husband or adorable son Jack, and hadn't seen her in years.  We met on  lovely Sunday morning at the botanical gardens of my alma mater - Texas Tech University.  I fell instantly in love with the location as well as Whitney's picture-perfect family.  It was so much fun to catch up with my old friend  and get to capture her with her son and husband.  Thank you B family - let's do it again next time I'm "home!"

K Family - Castle Rock, Colorado Family Photographer

The K family all came together for a family Thanksgiving this year and while everyone was gathered -- including their beautiful matriarch grandmother - they requested a family portrait session to commemorate the gathering.  What a joyous and laughter-filled morning!!  From the youngest little guy to the youngest at heart, it was a true pleasure working with them all.  Thank you K family for welcoming me into your  family for the morning, and hope to see you all again soon!

H Family - Castle Rock Colorado Family Photographer

Cold?? Why yes! Cloudy? For sure (I love overcast sessions)!  Fun?? DEFINITELY!  The H family didn't let a little December chill mess up their fun time.  They played and ran around and enjoyed the morning, as did I.  They even showed me a lovely, hidden spot for future sessions (this time I'm serious, though yes, we did some porch photos as well).  And their two boys totally loved the camera, and that made me happy, happy, happy!  Merry Christmas H family - and thank you for a lovely morning, and for letting me know how pleased you were with your portraits.  That makes me happy, happy, happy, too!

F Family - Castle Rock, Colorado Family Photographer

It truly is a small world after all...

My friend Tracy, from Washington, has a brother who lives in Colorado.  Tracy and her family visit her brother every year for Thanksgiving, and this year was no exception.  Bonus - Tracy's Dad was going to be visiting as well!   She asked me if I'd do some family portraits and of course I said "YES, please!!" I happily obliged and had a great time catching up with Tracy and Eric, and getting to meet her brother's family as well!  Castle Rock is a small town so hopefully I'll get to see them around town :-)

Brittany and Jake - Castle Rock Colorado Photographer

Brittany and Jake met me at a far away, hidden, rustic spot for their natural light mini-session --don't try and find it on a map, it is unfindable!  I jest.  This is Brittany's mom's front porch just a few blocks away from my own house!  I have a new love for photographing clients on front porches.  They are relaxed and at ease and the light is filtered and dreamy, perfect for adding sparkle to eyes and ease to poses.  It also goes to show that you don't need big open fields or colorful gardens to make a portrait session work - you just need love, and these two have that part down to a T!

Pink! Castle Rock Colorado Infant / Newborn Photographer

Oh sweet baby girl... what can I say? It was a delight to photograph sweet little miss E.  Her parents and big brother are so beyond sweet and beautiful, how could she not be as well!  She did not want to sleep - 3 weeks old and she was awake for the entire 2 hour session! But she was so easy to photograph, and so alert - see the one where she's smiling at her papa?!  What an honor to capture such innocence, purity and beauty.  Life, in the beginning.  Perfection.

H-B Family: Seattle Family Photographer - Castle Rock, Colorado Photography

Another fabulously fun family session in Seattle.  I love getting to photograph friends - there's an intimacy there that you can't deny, and it makes for some way-easy portrait taking on my part.  Erika and I worked together many years ago, and then our lives continued to parallel in our marriages, babies, and starting our own businesses.  It was a pleasure getting to catch up with her, meet her youngest for the first time, and see how much her first baby has grown (she's 5 weeks younger than my eldest!)!  They are such a cool, easy going family. A session at Alki Beach in Seattle was a perfect fit.  Can't wait to photograph them again on my next visit out!

B Family - Seattle Newborn and Family Photographer

Nora and I went to middle school together.  20 years ago.  In Texas. We found each other again on Facebook.  She now lives in Washington (my adopted home state).  She was pregnant with her 2nd son and the photographer she had used for years had retired.  She said she wished I lived closer so I could do her newborn pictures.  I joked with her that if she flew me out I would happily take pictures of her new son and family.  She booked me a flight immediately.  And thus our friendship was renewed, I got to enjoy a mini-getaway to my beloved city, and most importantly I got to take portraits of this gorgeous family in a city of stunning, filtered light.  I also have 3 other sessions to share with you (as well as several beautiful local Colorado sessions that I am way behind on adding to the blog)!

Thank you B family for...everything! Hope to see you again in another year or so!!

N Family - Lubbock Texas Family Photographer

Lubbock Texas Family Photographer? Wait, I thought crib tales photography was Colorado based?  Well yes, but I do travel, and wherever I travel I'm always happy to do a session or four while I'm there! And since Lubbock happens to be the very town I spent 21 years of my life in, I do visit there at least once a year.  So if you are looking for a family photographer in Lubbock, at certain times of the year I may just be your gal!

Now on with the post...

To say I was looking forward to this session is an understatement.  I grew up with Carrie - we've known each other since we were three years old!  We took dance together, went to preschool, middle school and high school together!  We even went to the same college.  That is a life long friend.  Carrie asked me to photograph her three gorgeous children when I was in town, and I was so so so happy to oblige.  We started off at their beautiful new home and ended up out in a cotton field that also housed a fireworks stand.  I was in heaven!  It didn't hurt that her kids are adorable, outgoing and beyond polite - those Texas mamas teach their please's and thank you's like nobody else.

Thank you Carrie and your entire gang for such a wonderful session.  I can't wait to see you again next time I'm in town!

October is Breast Caner Awareness Month...

This is Robin.  Last year I photographed Robin and her family just before the holidays.  We are similar in so many ways - we even live just a few blocks from each other we found out.  Like me, she is a mother of 2 small, darling children.  Like me, we are both in the "upper end" of our 30's.  Like me, she has a loving husband, a beautiful home, great friends, a caring family, a job she loves, and children she treasures.  Two months ago Robin was diagnosed with breast cancer.  No family history.  No clues leading up to it.  Just an unexplained lump, and then her world crashing in on her.  Robin has asked me, entrusted me, with taking portraits of her before and after her mastectomy surgery.  The images below she has given me permission to share.  They were taken just 4 days before her surgery.  We spent a little over an hour together in her home - there was laughter and tears and frustration.  And in that time I saw her strength building, and her spirit ready to fight.

Robin is now recovering, slowly, from that surgery and another unexpected one.  She will be starting treatment soon.  She has asked me to document that as well.  I think of Robin on a daily basis now.  How her world was rocked.  How her life and her family's life was dramatically changed in a moment.  And how 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with this disease.  How real that is.  Both of my grandmothers were breast cancer survivors, and I know Robin will be as well.  She has a strength that she is just now discovering, and that is redefining who she is.  Thank you Robin for letting me into this very difficult and private journey.  You are an inspiration to me and to all women.

Client Catch Up! Highlands Ranch Family Photographer; Monument Family Photographer

It is safe to say that I am a wee bit behind in updating the blog.  OK, a lot behind.  Three sessions behind, soon to be more.  But hey, so it goes.  If you want to see updated sneak peeks as they happen you should check out the crib tales photography facebook page!  But I digress... Here are a few sneak peeks from three recent sessions. I'd like to share a lot more, and hope I can get to it soon.  But right now I'm editing portraits of 76 children (yes, 76!) from a local private school portrait day session.  More to come on that soon, too, I hope! But for now, enjoy these beautiful smiling mugs!

ps - I do have a very special charitable giving event happening on our facebook page.  I encourage you to check it out and see how giving yourself a little gift can give an even bigger gift to a very special little girl...
