Up! Up! And away!

My favorite part of the recent homeschoolers photo session was the variety of poses and styles I was able to go through with all of the children. Each child had my sole attention for their 20 minute session, so we rolled through some very fun props and actions. It was so much fun I almost forgot I was working! Some of my favorites from these sessions were the balloon shots. What do balloons have to do with homeschooling? Beats me. But it sure was fun to see the kids' expressions each time I pulled out the enormous bouquet of balloons. Even more fun to see them swirling and twirling with them in arms!

A Family - April 2010

Lisa called me based on a recent ad I placed in our neighborhood newsletter. I was thrilled to hear from her, and to hear that my advertising was working! But most of all I was thrilled to be asked to photograph her beautiful family. Her eldest son lives in Florida and a family photograph is rare. Lisa desperately wanted portraits of herself and her husband with their three children, all together. I was so happy to oblige. And beyond that, I got gorgeous subjects to work with, and met a lovely family as well. I truly do have the greatest job in the world!

I also got to sneak in a few photos of Lisa's son and his girlfriend as well. Gorgeous!
Thank you A family for letting me capture your all together. And thank you Lisa for your call letting me know how happy you were with your portraits. You made MY day!

Senior Sneak Peek!

I adored doing this photo session! Leslie was so much fun, and up for anything. We roamed around down town for well over an hour snapping different looks. It was so much fun! It is official - photographing seniors is my new favorite love! I'll post more soon...

What to Wear...

One of the most common questions I get asked by my clients is “what should we wear to our session?” Of course this is completely your choice! But I'm also happy to make some suggestions to help you decide on a picture perfect look!

Since the majority of sessions are held out of doors, the most important thing to consider is comfort. If you and your family are comfortable, then you will be relaxed and at ease and comfortable in front of my lens. Make that your top priority. If the day of your session calls for a bit of a chill, think of brightly colored hats and scarves or cuddly winter sweaters. If sunny skies are forecast bring out your crisp khakis and summer whites. Selecting coordinating colors is a good idea, but don't feel constrained by color alone. Everyone in a winter fleece with varying colors is also a fun idea. Or select clothing in shades of coordinating colors such as grey, white and charcoal.

One other thing to consider is choosing a wardrobe that is as “timeless” as possible. Try forgoing trends and choose classic colors and styles that won't date your images in 5-10 years time. The same goes with hairstyles, make-up, and shoes. Simple is best. But also don't be afraid to bring along accessories that can be included in a few select portraits for a more current photo. Props can include hats, sunglasses, a scooter, or even the family pet!

The choices are endless. But below are some ideas to help get the ball rolling...

Casual & Coordinated:

Matchy-Matchy (but not too much!)

Bun in the Oven - K Family April 2010

Amber's awaiting Piper's arrival any day now. So while she had her girls at a recent photo session, we snapped a few mama-shots as well. I think every mother should pamper herself a little with a maternity session. It reminds us where we've come from when the baby's here and our world is turned topsy-turvy. And what a perfect little Mother's Day gift, too!

And if these smiling faces look familiar, you're right. I've had the pleasure of doing a family session, engagement session and their wedding for this awesome family. I can't wait for the next family shoot with baby Piper added to the mix!
